The flame burn steadily eating away her fortress of rules that she had barricaded herself in. This was a love that was pure and true but nonetheless had the mark of the forbidden. Emeralda paused to reflect on the treachery of pain. As she reads of the 21 persons in the US Midwest who were frozen to death by the worst polar vortex for decades, she wondered just how much pain did they suffer. Can a parallel be drawn between the pain that rips through the heart as opposed to the agony endured when warm blood is turned to icicles within their very veins?

Does the event that trigger pain matters if it is capable of rendering you senseless in the end? Pain knows no emotional boundaries. It attacks our very core of existence making resilience our only chance of survival.
